RN in Fresno.. which hospital has best salary?

Hi, I just moved to Fresno, CA and looking to get a job as an RN in Fresno. Have two small kids so I would like to work efficiently.. that is high $$ with good benefits and low stress (is there such a job??). I have been out of the nursing market for 5 years, but have 4 years of telemetry experience. Willing to go to a new field. Interested in psych, ICU, OR, ER, Telemetry, CVICU mainly. Do you have any recommendation on which hospital I should/should not work at? Thanks.

I hear that the community hospitals (Fresno, Clovis, UMC, CRMC) do not treat their employees well at all and the pay is not that great. I would try St. Agnes or Kaiser, they seem to be the most sought after hospitals in the area.

I work at Community Hospital=CRMC. I LOVE IT and I am treated VERY well. Rumor has it that St Agnes and Kaiser has a hiring freeze BUT I know a RN with 1 year exp that just got a job offer at St Agnes. CRMC has an influx of New Grad Externs that cant find jobs and the dept managers LOVE to hire their externs...so the job market in Fresno is getting BAD. So get started looking NOW and apply to ICU & ER.

Since nursing is constantly evolving, it might be even harder to find a job since you're considered out of date. Also your requisites seem to be very high in a bad economy. What one of my nursing instructors told me is that you always need to make yourself marketable. Maybe you should try doing a refresher course if you're unable to find a job right away. Also since you're already a RN I've heard of some CC offering advanced nursing courses (for current RNs) like critical care and ER or some of the other. Try that to make yourself more marketable, and add on to your 4 years in telemetry experience. Hope you're able to find a job soon. Good Luck
