relocating from Canada

just joined this site- plans to relocate to Los Angeles from Toronto, Canada. I am a pediatric ER nurse-graduated in 1997 adn have always dreamed of working in the US (specifically California) for many reasons. If anyone has relocated from Canada, please email me. I am writing my NCLEX exam this January 2004 . If you did relocate, did you do so with a nursing agency? I don't plan on using a nursing agency to put together the required documents and help me find employment, instead I am going to applying directly on my own. Specificcally, I would like to work at Los Angeles Children's Hospital
