Public Health Nursing

Public Health Nurses in CA, what kinds of jobs do you have. What exactly does a public health RN do? Where in CA do you work. Do you have to get your BSN to get your public health certificate?

I am an RN going to school to get my BSN. This semester is our public health rotation and we are working with the LA county health department. I know for LA county you must have your BSN to get hired as a public health nurse (I am not sure if you can get a public health certificate without getting your BSN but I know LA county won't hire you without your BSN). There are lots of jobs in LA county and I have had a good time throughout the rotation. Check out their website for more info about pubic health nursing and what it's all about: www.lapublichealth.org/phn
