OU online prerequisites

by T2007

Hello,
I would like to go to OU for their ASBN program.
I live in Northern California and have not attended thier info meetings.
I need to find a Human Development Course online, the one that the academic advisor reccomended requires a prerequisite (at Rio Salado).
Maybe if you went to thier info meetings they gave the list of schools (including online ones) to take the prerequisites.
Please let me know. Thank you.
P.S. Also I know they opened the same program in Glendale, anybody knows if OU will expand to include North California?

Hi,

I attended the OU informational session in San Diego. The session is a powerpoint presentation of the program and nothing more. The presentor collects transcripts at the end if you would like them to review what prerequisites you still need, then they may email/call you to follow up. They did not go through which classes satisfy what at the nearby community colleges. You need to email/bring to them the course description from the college and they will approve/or recommend another course.

Hope this helps.

I had an appointment with one of the admissions counselors and she said a couple of online institutions. Rio Salado was one of them. She didn't tell me exact courses so she had me check course descriptions with her by email. All I had to do was copy and paste the description from the RIO site into an email to her. She got back to me really fast on what courses would work. She said we can take prerequisites at any regional accredited school, so I have searched a few other online schools too. When I scheduled my appointment they asked if I wanted to meet by phone or campus vist, so you could meet with them by phone if you want your transcripts reviewed. I recommend calling them for an appointment. they are really helpful. I don't recall the phone number off the top of my head, but their website is www.ounursing.com.

Good Luck!

I was accepted into the OU program last year, but choose to go to SMC instead. I used a Human Dev course from College of the Canyons to satisfy the requirement. And I think Barstow College also had that class online. The only pre-req might have been english comp. Barstow has a good selection of fast paced, inexpensive online classes.

Is there a catch to getting in this program? Is it just an application that is needed (along with completing the pre-reqs)? It sounds "easy" to get in, if that's possible. Anyone know about actually being accepted...
THANKS!!

You don't automatically get in. They said they get up to 16t0 applications and there are only 75 spots! The counselor i met with said i need to raise my GPA as high as possible for my recent courses and my sciences. they look at your most recent gpa, your science gpa, and then some questions that are on the application. i asked about sending a letter f recommendation, but she said they don't review those. From looking at the other threads, it seems like there are lot of people not accepted who reapply....
