by babs4u

I managed to get on a waitlist for 3 classes Im gonna need, What exactly does a waitlist do?
And one of them is online, (Antropology) and instead of a specific time, it says "TBA" what does this mean?

Hi babs4u,

When you are the wait list it means that you are not in the class yet. Usually you have to show up on the first day of class (unless it is an online class, then you usually have to get added on by emailing the instructor. Every school is different) and if the instructor has room they will start adding students depending on your waitlist #. Example: #1 gets added first, then #2, and so on. And as far as "TBA", it stands for "to be announced". This may mean that there is a specific time the instructor wants you to be online, but I'm not really sure. At my school, online classes usually don't have a specific time, just a specific date that assignments and tests are due. Hope this helps and good luck!!

I sent the 2 online instructers my name and email, it was a form through the CC website, should I also send them a personal email asking for them to add me?

I am also on a waitlist for 2 other classes, not online, the student service people told me that I do have to show up on the first day, but should I purchase the books I need for them now?

One of those is Nurs B100, Maybe someone on here knows what that is. The student advisor said something about not nessesarily having to take this class (Ithink) On my schedule it says {credit/no credit} Do you think this class is needed?

Hi,

No, I think you are fine as long as you sent them the form to add you. Sometimes it takes a while for them to add you but you should email them if they haven't added you by the first day of the semester.

For me, I have always waited until I have started the class before I buy my books, only because I have had some instructors tell me they don't require a textbook for their class. Also, I don't know about your college, but my college's bookstore will not allow you to buy the textbook unless you are enrolled in the class.

I looked at bakersfield college, which I am only assuming that is where you are attending. It states that nurs B100 is a Strategies for Success in a Nursing Program course. I'm not sure but it looks like to me that it is a recommended course, not a required course. If it states credit/no credit, that means that you will not receive a grade on the transcript for this class, you either pass or fail. Hope this helps

Yes that does help! Thanks Mammato3! I might go ahead and drop that nurs B100 then, the rn program is lottery based, not based on gpa and how much you do, so I guess I will drop that one.

Thanks again!

Actually I just got a reply from the advisor from the nursing department and he said that Nurs B100 fullfills the STDV requirment, so I guess this means I shouldnt drop the Nurs B100?
But I could swear the student advisor I spoke with yesterday, told me that STDV wasnt required if I know where I want to go with my career!

So... I dont know!

Hi,

Maybe just take it just in case since they are telling you two different things. Better to be safe than sorry
Since it is credit/no credit, it probably won't be a hard course.

I wouldn't buy any books until you are officially added to the class.

I am on the waitlist for 4 classes, This morning I noticed I moved up a few spots.

WL #9 for the Meds B60/medical terminology
WL #9 for Nurs B100/ fullfills the STDV requirment
WL #15 for the Online Anthropology
WL #8 for the Hist B1 Online

These are mainly general education classes, but its all I could get into until next semester. Based on my WL #, do you guys think I have a good chance getting in? Yesterday I was #10 for the Hist B1.

The online classes start on the 24th and the other 2 start on the 27th.
