Oceanside

Does anyone know how it's like living in Oceanside? Are there any good hospitals to work at around there?

Hi.
I live near Oceanside. Its an up and coming Community, with rentals and home prices that are pretty good compared to other parts of the County. The San DIego Coaster is also there, so its a great way to Commute. I don't know about the Hospitals, but San Diego County is hiring and there are jobs near Oceanside. I work for San Diego County. Lots of the jobs are 8-5, M-F. If you are interested in Public Health you would probably get a job as they need more. The County's web site is www.sdcounty.ca.gov.
Check it out and let me know if we'll be neighbors.

Hey Harry Potter,

I'm a dialysis nurse planing to move to CA but have no idea about which city/county to choose. Do you know any good big scale hospital/health center that will fit me the best ? Once this is determined, then I can plan to hunt for an accommodation to stay.Any best way to find a place to rent ?

There is a hospital in Oceanside/vista
Tri city medical center. I have been living here for 10 years...If you want to go to a larger hospital you can go 20 minutes east or south for larger hospitals. Scripps or Palomar medical center. There are many dialysis areas to work. If you are interested in a teaching hospital it is approx 45-50 mins away. I know the dialysis team at UCSD medical center pm me if needed.Good luck!

there are 3 dialysis units in Oceanside. North Coast Kidney Center and another (FMC) and a DaVita unit. There is a Davita unit in Escondido and a unit in Encinitas. These are the closest to Oceanside. North Coast would be the largest, i think 25 chairs and then Escondido. Encinitas is a nicest...only 15 stations, very relaxed staff and great patients. Good luck!

I've lived outside of Oceanside for 2 years now and feel that Carlsbad is a better area to live but somewhat more expensive. Good Luck!

If you have kids I wouldn't move to Oceanside, the schools are not good.

I've gotta agree about the Oceanside schools, especially if your kids have any special learning needs. You'll be wanting to scout the area and not rent a place sight unseen. There are lots of perfectly fine neighborhoods in Oceanside, but there are also some rough areas.

From what I've heard ... the pay in San Diego (and surrounding towns) is generally lower than other coastal areas of the state which, if true, is unfortunate since the cost of living has gotten so high there. I don't know why the pay is lower but, apparently, this is why some of the hospitals have gone union there in recent years.

There is also a Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside. I know that they hire civilian nurses, but the nurses there, as well as at Naval Medical Center, San Diego, are hired through local "nurse contract" agencies.
