ny to cali transfer

ny to cali transfer


I am taking my NCLEX in march. HOw soon after will I get my results to be able to send to cali to work out there? Is it just paper work where they get the info and transfer you to work in cali? Im confused on this whole process. Someone help...

I would contact the Ca board of nursing directly & soon. They are pretty quick with this stuff. By the way I did the opposite, got license in CA, moved & worked in NY then came back to CA. I found both licensing boards easy to work with. By the way, welcome to Cali!!! Where will you be, northern or southern CA?

You will need to endorse to CA, and follow the License by Endorsement process that they have, and that is once you have your NY license. You will need to have your nursing school send a copy of your completed trancripts to the BRN, as well as have NY verify your license.

With that done, at least the verification of your license, you can actually get a temporary license given to you if you go to the Sacramento office in preson, otherwise expect it to take about one month.

There is no transferring of a license, you will still continue to hold the NY license, at least until it expires if you do not renew it.
