If I remember correctly they start w basics such as proper hand washing, setting up trays, standard precautions, nosocomial infections, HIPAA, coding, injections ... an also some over anatomy and physio. its all pretty basic then yo move up to the math and dosage calculations ... and until you have passed Pharm. youre not allowed to be in clinical rotations ... hang in there!

Nurse Re: Nursing school...first semester
I am in my first semester, and I do have clinicals. I have them at a nursing home. I am not able to give meds, however, I did get to give TB test injections! I was so excited! First semester is all the basics. Are you in mursing school?

I'm almost done with my first sem.
My first sem has nursing home clinical, pharmacology the whole semester to prepare you for drugs and dosage calculations, giving injections, giving medications, giving meds and food through feeding tubes, cleaning wounds, legal and ethical stuff.
You should look at the curriculum of your school and the class descriptions.
You'll know more when there's orientation and a syllabus.
Don't worry. You'll be fine.
