Nurses Fired From Vanguard Hospitals

by Haunted

October, so far at least 4 nurses, including yours truly, have been fired from this Vanguard operated facility in Orange County. They site that we were inciting insubordination in expressing our concerns to Administration when we discovered they were encouraging the CNA's to sign letters of resignation as they plan to eventually dissolve this position altogether. THANK YOU SPACE NURSE for your post about the seminar provided to hospital officials that was reported in the California Nurses Association website.

As predicted, this hospital group is indeed following instructions outlined in the seminar: Close beds and cry wolf, Attack RN practice, Erode the ratios at the bedside, subvert the DHS and Cover tracks. It was interesting to note that further research indicated that several of our admin attended this seminar and are in full swing! No wonder I got the cold spin when I contacted DHS to complain! SPACE, any suggestions? I am willing to stand in front of these facilities with a huge banner if I though it would protect 1 patient or help to secure jobs.

I am so sorry you and your fellow nurses and caregivers are having to go through this.
CNA employees are very busy but dedicated too.

I usually call the Oakland office if it is not specific to my facility. The receptionist will direct you to someone who can help. The number is (510) 273-2200
You may also e-mail administration, communications, or organizing. I don’t do that because we have our own labor representative.

PS: For your next job you may want a union facility. Our hospitals and Kaiser will represent you if you are treated unfairly. (Cedars is not yet represented by CNA in spite of winning an election. I don't know much about their struggle).

Space, I did indeed contact a Union Organizer from CNA who mailed me an info packette. I am still trying very hard to rally the troops. Thanks for the link.
