Norcal new grad looking for peds or L&D position

by ymm123

Hi everyone,

Im starting to get discouraged. I graduated in Dec and just passed boards the other week. My problem is that I really like peds and L&D. I would love to work at a childrens hospital but we have so few. And lucile packards next program isnt until sept. Im contemplating UCSF's july program but its so far off.

Anyway, I am looking at hospitals all over northern california and openings are so scarce. I just want a place to start in one of these two areas. I already have checked all the kaisers, sutters, CHW's, tenet, childrens oakland, childrens central valley, el camino hospital mountain view, washington hospital in fremont, san francisco general. Im only really formilar with hospitals ive grown up around and internet searching doesnt seem to cover them all.

Any help as to hospitals Ive missed or advice for getting started in these areas? I want to get as many applications out as I can to give me the best chance.
thanks

Though I honestly wish you the best, I wouldn't hold your breath. Getting ANY kind of new grad job in northern California is difficult right now, much less in those highly coveted areas.

You may have better luck in more rural counties, but I don't know that for sure.
