New Grad Pay at Lancaster Community and Antelope Valley Hospitals

Antelope Valley Hosptial: New grad pay ranges from 28-34 per hour depending on department. $5 differential for night shift. 3 12-hr shifts, and I believe time and a half each day after that. Lancaster Community has always been a little less, but they are growing their hospital now for the new facility (should open eventually...) so that may not hold true still.

I agree with thevwgirl. I've done my clinicals at both Lancaster and Antelope. Antelope is more new grad friendly these days. Lancaster has been holding alot of new hires becuse the new hospital will not be ready until sometime 2010. Once that opens I believe the flood gates will open for jobs. staff is very helpful at Lancaster, I enjoyed it.

I got my start as a new grad a few years ago at AVH. I started at around $28 per hour with $4 night differential. Should be a little higher now. The work was rough, but the Critical care service staff was very supportive in PCU, CCU and ICU. They were great to work with and I still remember them till this day. I did my clinicals at both AVH and LCH. Personally, I preferred the nursing staff and environment of AVH as compared to LCH. The pay has allows been higher at AVH also. A few of my ex co-workers worked per diem at LCH and preferred to work at that hospital due to less micromanaging by the clinical manager. I did a lot of overtime there, but that was when the economy was a lot better than now. You can always do per diem at the opposite hospital once you get a year of experience.
