Maternity Leave

Hi,

My husband and I are thinking about moving to California next year. I was just wondering what the maternity leave situation is like there for nurses. A friend of mine told me that it was possible to get between 6 - 26 weeks of paid leave? Is this true?

Thank-you so much!!!!!

I have never heard of 26 weeks paid. Most of the nurses I work with take the 6 weeks paid (they had to save up that time) and they take an unpaid FMLA leave (12-16 weeks or something). If you are planning on having children soon, you would get a much better mat leave in Canada. Most of the nurses here were shocked when I told them my nursing friends in Canada all took a year off when they had kids.
