LVN in 2 months?!?

by tx2007

Ok I have to ask even though I am pretty sure I already know the answer. My SIL lives in San Diego and SWEARS to me that she is going to start nursing school in Jan and it will take her 2 months to get her LVN!!! She is currently a CNA and MA, she HAS NOT taken A&P or any other classes just CNA & MA. So is there any school you have heard of that this is possible?? It is supposed to be some REALLY expensive no wait college and OH YES its also accredited so she says.

Oh I seriously doubt it too, but she also thinks being an MA is the same thing as a nurse @@. I just wanted to see if anyone had ever heard of such. You know I am wastnig my time getting my ADN in 3 years since she does the same things as a nurse with just her MA and can get her LVN in two months <HA HA>

Well ask her if she does the same thing as a nurse why get her LVN anyway. Sounds like she is just jealous of you. The thing is there are numerous hours required in clinical before the BON will let you sit for the NCLEX. Look up in the CA BON site and see how many hours are required. I know that I had 2000 clock hours and went to clinical about 11 months out of the 12 I was there and about 16-24 hours weekly. Plus being in class. If it was that easy everyone in Cali would be getting a 2 month LVN license......

Thank you thats EXACTLY what I wanted to say, but she wants to get her LVN license so she can get paid more thats the only reason. Honestly I hope she either changes her attitude or doesnt become a nurse. She flat told me the only reason she wants to be a nurse is for the $$, she could care less about the patients. I was pretty sure there was no such school but ya never know LOL!! She got the info from a postcard in the mail and she went and signed up at the school. Seriously I doubt she even checked into it being accredited, oh well her $$ not mine!!

No such thing, all programs are one year in duration.
The only way that CA waives that requirement is if she were a corpsman in the military for three years, which I seriously doubt.

Thanks Suzanne!! No my brother is in the Navy but she is just along for the ride!! She said she wants to get her LVN in Cali and then when they get back to TX she will get her RN. I just try not to laugh to hard at the stupid things she tells me though!! The most recent besides getting her LVN in two months is she wants to wait to get to TX to get her RN is because she would have to retake the NCLEX!! @@

I think I know what she is talking about. If you have been a CNA for 5 years or more in California you can take a couple of classes and become a LVN. I think this is a crazy idea!
