Los Medanos College

I just went to a Nursing Career Seminar class at Los Medanos and it was GREAT information. It makes me want to be in nursing school right now!!!! I've never been to college, much less taken any classes there. If you can give me your thought about the program, the instructors, et cetera, I would appreciate it. I'm going to apply for both the RN and LVN programs, but given a choice would enter the RN program. Thanks in advance!

The only advice I can give you is to diversify yourself...don't just take pre-reqs for and plan only on LMC's RN program. Take the core pre-reqs first (Anatomy, micro, physio, english, math, psych) *and* nutrition (the LVN program requires it as well as other local ADN programs). Apply to the LVN AND the RN programs at LMC, and also apply to other area schools. Take the higher level math classes that are needed to apply to CSU East Bay. Apply to them all. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, because LMC is so hard to get into, and it's all luck. I don't want you to end up like me! (Applied 3 times, currently on the alternate list, don't know what's going to happen, and can't reapply next year because my sciences start to expire).
Trust me, diversify!!

Hi MisStake,
I replied on your other thread also. Thanks for the info on diversifying. Believe me I am! I'm planning on apply to between 7-10 places, mostly community colleges. It's going to cost me an arm and a leg in transcript fees (I went to 3 colleges) but it'll be worth it if I get accepted somewhere the first time! The three people at the seminar (just ended their 1st yr of nursing) said it took them 3 yrs to get in. So just think positive... this will be your lucky year!!
