Looking for CNA School in Glendale, La Crescenta Areas

I am currently enrolled in a very sub-standard CNA/LVN School called "Healthcare Education Advancement Center" in the La Crescenta Area. However, they have recently cut back on clinicals, and I have as of yet received any human instruction.

Theory is: Show up, sign in, read the textbook by yourself, watch some videos from 1990, take a test.

Clinical is: Instead of being close to you like we advertised, we're going to move it twenty miles away from your home, and let you know last minute. Oh, and we're cutting clinicals back from twice a week to once a week, so our "Ten Week" course is now Twenty.

So, I desperately need to switch schools, and soon, transportation is a major issue for me, so I could only really attend schools in the Glendale/La Crescenta Area. Maybe Los Angeles. Time is also another issue for me, as I still have to think about the short term, and continue working to pay my rent.

So, while I have let my fingers do the walking somewhat, I know that there are schools, and nursing homes out there that aren't necessarily advertised, so if anyone works for a nursing home, or something like that, I would appreciate a response, even rumors and hearsay are welcome.

Hi...

Please excuse me and this post/reply business, I'm fairly new at this and I limit myself from forums.

The only reason I'm responding to you is because I did a google search on the school which you mentioned. What do you think about it, I mean, what would you tell someone inquiring about the school?

Are you still enrolled?

My apologies for the 20 questions, I will explain my inquisitions in time. As far as other CNA courses, city funded schools are the greatest. Here's a website to one: http://www.lacorop.org/ROPOnline/Pub...tudentMap.aspx

Reading your Post, you seem proficient enough to figure out what you need to do in that link above.

I know that time isn't on your side, but I would recommend junior colleges.

BEST of LUCK!

Hey thanks for the link. Yes, Im sure I can figure it out.

As for the school, the problem is that as a CNA they very minimally try to teach, there is no teacher as I said. Even the clinicals reminds me more of volunteering at a home. I feed patients, and take some temperatures but I dont clean or change beds. And I dont see how I am expected to learn it from watching a VHS tape from 1990 once, and taking notes.

Overall, save your money and look for the next one like I am.

Im still 'enrolled' but on a hiatus pending better schooling. I just cant believe its this hard, and noone has posted anything save you.

Try finding one in the link. The Red Cross in L.A. offeres a 22-day course for 1400.00. I need one that it's not too long. The only problem with R.C. is from 8-5pm and I got school at 5:00pm

No problem. You can also find stuff at any city's unemployment office, they have a TON of information for all sorts of classes. And yes, a CNA class is one of them being offered. What's amazing about it, is that the class will run you about $300 max (at least that's what my expenses amounted to), and state funded courses are known to grill education and work ethics in a person.

To tell you the truth, I am enrolled at HEAC, I wanted to know your take on the school. I wondered if it left you with the same frustration that I'm dealt with everytime I go to "theory and clinicals." Thanks for the confirmation of my dreary decision of going there...jk.

Anyway, I was really hoping to PM (private message) you, but I'm unable to due to my limited posts. Feel free to email me...if you can figure out how.
