Letter to test

I have a question for all the california nurses. If I plan to graduate on May 24th , when do you think I should be able to get my letter to be able to test. No one will even give me an estimate! I have called the board and they will not give me an estimate. Please, if anyone can give me a date estimate I will be oh so grateful. Thanks.

There is no date that we can give you. Best suggestion is to register with Pearson-Vue and when they have received approval from CA BRN, they will let you schedule a date. CA BRN will let a CA graduate sit for the NCLEX exam before they have actually received the transcripts from your school, provided that you are on the list sent by the school that you are expected to graduate with your class.

Thread moved to CA forum, as it is specific to what is done in CA.

Also, the ATT (authorization to test) is sent out by Pearson-Vue after they have received approval from the state, and you have paod the fee for the exam.

You will get your letter from the state allowing you to register with Pearson-Vue once they have received confirmation from your school. That usually takes around 4-5 weeks. Once you get the letter you can sign up online with Pearson-Vue and Pearson will give you a testing # once you have registered and paid the fee. I paid over the internet and got my ATT # immediately. When you scheducle the NCLEX date you get a high priority the 1st time you schedule, if you reschedule your prioirty is a bit lower, but there were open slots 3 weeks or so from when I registered. Good Luck

Oh, I ment to add that my school sent the info to Sacramento before graduation. I graduated mid December and had my letter to register less than two weeks later. So it really depends when the state receives the info from your school.

For me, my school sent out the request on Dec8....I asked if any of my classmates got the ok to test..The first sign of that was on Jan 11....So it depends on the state board when they recieve the school application and the distance you are from sacramento.

You also got to factor in how many schools there are that are sending in at the same time.
