Kaplan College San Diego LVN Program

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here on the site and was wondering if anyone else out there is starting at Kaplan (in Vista) on 2/16/09 for the LVN program. Thanks so much!

Im working on getting into that class. still have to take the HESI entrance exam. Did you take it already? Do you know if the AP section is on the test or if you can use calculators?

I did take the HESI, I bought the study guide and it really helped. There is no A&P on the test but you do need to know your basic algebra, fractions, etc. Also the vocab was a lot harder than I thought it would be, so make sure you study up on that. Get your roman numerals down as well. Good luck, let me know how you do! You CAN use caluclators on this test.

Hey everyone no need to buy the HESI study guide, check this website out it gives example test questions on every topic covered on the HESI and solutions. This is what I used to take the HESI at Kaplan and I passed

Thanks so much everyone for the info! To answer your question mamyof3 the lvn program is 1year and is about 30k. however you may be able to get a grant for about 10k (in CA) and student loans. As far as i know they only transfer a very small portion of the classes to a university. I decided to spend the extra money on kaplan because I have no pre reqs under my belt and it would take twice as long to become an lvn at a jr college with pre reqs and waiting lists. Is your ultimate goal LVN or RN, have you taken any college classes yet?

Hey Jstylist, just thought I would let you I know I am in the same boat. I don't have any pre-req's either and I would like to just get in and get done, so I can start working. Ultimately my goal is RN, but that doesn't have to be right away. When do you take your HESI test? Who is your advisor at Kaplan? I am so excited for classes to start!

I wish you the best of the best. Don't worry you'll do great! A question how much they going to charge you for the LVN prog. I ask about the Pharmacy tech and they told me 15k. I believe that is way to much$$$$ because CA have these programs called ROP that they give you the same certification and you only have to pay for books and maybe $55 for labs. Any way I wish the best. Let me know how was your test.
