How long are you considered a "new grad"?

Maybe a year? I think they consider "new grads" as those who just recently graduated and having no experience at all as a nurse.

If you haven't worked at all, you're considered a new grad, although once you reach the one year post-graduation point it starts to get harder because you're competing with people who are fresher out of school and hypothetically more up-to-date. I have heard of people having trouble, though, who've worked six months or so at a job, then quit and gotten stuck in limbo between new grad and the magical one year of experience.

They look at how many hours you've completed. If it's over 2000 hours then you're not considered a new grad anymore. Anything below that is RN I, and anything above that is RN II. If you quit before you reach the 2000 hours then you will most definately be stuck. Definately not a smart thing to do in this economy unless there are extreme circumstances
