How long are shifts in Calif. State Prisons- Sac/Folsom?

by ga*gal

Hello!!
Any RN's out there work for CA. State prisons, specifically Sac or Folsom? How do you like it? How long are the shifts (8s or 12s)? Do you feel safe? Would you recommend it?

Thanks so much for any input!!

I can't tell you about sac or folsom. I worked at chino for a while, we did 12's there. Most RN"s ended up staying for 16's. And be aware that if the facility gets locked down d/t a riot or whatever, you are unable to leave the facility until it has been cleared. Yes, you are accruing overtime that entire time, but personal life can get put on hold.
