How to get in to RN program

by medlife

Hi everybody
i've searching around for nursing college and finally dropped into this forum and it kinda interesting me too , since lot of people in here are already nurses !
I'm just finished the prerequisites, and trying to get in to the Register Nurse program, however i have two repeat of classes (prerequisite) because i got a bad grade in those two classes, Micro and Physio . My G.P.A is not good either , i tried to apply for the program but some school don't accept the repeat of classes , Private school are so expensive , i wish i tried harder for the prerequisites so i will not stuck in this hard situation !!!!! I live in California, and i want to go to school close to where i live , If anybody in here know any public school for Register Nurse (ADN) that is easy to get in, would you please let me know ? Thank you so much for your help ! and nice to know you all !
Best wishes !

Sorry I can't offer any information but I am sure that some of our other members might be able to help.

Welcome to allnurses enjoy.

You might try the region tab and then go the your state and make your post. You might get a better response there.

Good Luck

Thumbs up Re: How to get in to RN program
I guess it depends what part of Cali you are from. I live in the Bay Area, and have to commute an hour just to get into an ADN program. The schools in my area have three times the amount of applications, and it is a lottery system. The school I go to bases your entrance on grades. Look into the surrounding schools you are interested in and find out their qualifications. If you live in the Bay Area I can tell the schools I applied to and any advice. In the meantime I would take some easy classes to boost up your GPA. It can be a long and frustrating process, so I wish you the very best!

I hope this helps!

Hello! and Welcome!

The ADN programs where I live which is in the Inland Empire would be Riverside Community College, Chaffey and Citrus College and Mt. San Antonio College. Unfortunelty, they all have waiting list and competion is high. I felt like you discouraged but I decided to take a LVN course at Citrus which if you pass you are more likely to be able to transfer first to the ADN program and use 18 credits that you get from your LVN program to your ADN. Hope this helps.
If you want to go the LVN route first then go to ADN that will better your chances of getting into a ADN program and you can be working at a hospital with your LVN liscence.

Hope this helped.

Hello, a lot of people go the LVN route because it is easier, faster, and less expensive. I am so thankful to have gotten in my first time. I attend an ADN program at Delta. They go by grades and if you live in district. They will allow about twenty out of district but you usually have to be an A student. If you are interested check out their website!
