Home Health Nurses

Most Home Health agencies will want you to have some hospital experience first. You need to be proficient at dressing changes, caring for wounds, etc. And school doesn't fully prepare you for this.

If they will hire you right out of school, remember that it is your nursing license that you will have at stake.

If you are seriously interested in home health right out of school you can possibly get hired if you ask for the opportunity to be "trained to a specific case". Also, if you are in a BSN program, it might help to have the recommendation of your faculty member for this part of the program. Agencies do hire inexperienced people (LPNs also), but you have to walk in the door at the right time and be able to sell yourself. You really should get the experience first so that you have enough confidence. It's scary to be on duty in a home care setting and realize that you are pretty much on your own.
