Re: Hey Sunny California! New grad in Oregon looking for work
I'm in the greater Sac metro region and I can tell you first hand: The openings are few and the competition is FIERCE.
Sutter Sac has a sort-of hiring freeze and isn't hiring new grads. I just applied for a few positions there and the computer always responds, "no new grads." I know of one unit a Sutter that hired 2 new grads in June... and received over 100 apps for those two openings.
Kaiser is not hiring any new grads.
UC Davis is not hiring any new grads. They did hire a few over the summer but also required a specific 5th semester preceptorship in a like unit... presumably one of theirs.
CHW is not hiring any new grads. They're pretty much like UCD.
Nope, Sacto's a locked-up market right now.
Keep in mind, you've got Merritt, Sac State, ARC, Solano College, and a few us who commuted out of the area for school.
If your spouse is in seminary then perhaps he's got a connection with someone who can really help because getting hired around here takes a miracle.
