Has anyone heard from the John Muir New grad program?

I'm curious if anyone applied to the John Muir Walnut Creek program earlier this month and if so, have you heard anything back ?

I know that they canceled the program in Concord but were keeping the program open in Walnut Creek. I have no idea how many positions will be in the Walnut Creek program as the recruiter wasn't sure when I last spoke to her.

Anyhow, any info anyone has would be appreciated. I'll post as soon as I hear anything as well.

Good luck with the job hunt everyone!

I don't know when they'll start calling people for interviews, or how many will get interviews, but they received over 1,000 applications.

Wow, that's not encouraging. Thanks for the information though. I least I know what I'm up against.

Do you know if they are still accepting apps?

No, they are no longer accepting applications. The application period was only open for less than 2 weeks.

I heard through the grapevine that they will begin calling for interviews this week or next week. good luck everyone!

I'm sure they will also be hiring in house new grads. Most likely they will be hired first. 1000 applicants, wow, that's the norm now, scary!

I haven't gotten called either, but their inhouse new grads are interviewing this week and next. The new grad program at JMMC has dwindled--I think the last class was down to 15. In my December graduating class out of CSUEB-Concord, 16 are JMMC employees and they are also all wonderful students with good grades who will go on to make amazing nurses. We've done most of our rotations at JMMC, and while nothing is certain, I would expect those GN positions go to their own employees first. Therefore, I doubt the new grad program will have room for us. I live walking distance from their campus and have volunteered there for years. Very discouraging. Especially after putting my family thru so much for this degree. And, it's not like I can pick up my family and mortgage and move somewhere else. I'm just hoping to find ways to keep my skills current until this situation changes.
Good Luck on your Journey!

Its sad but true. Most hospitals will hire their own new grads and then open the remaining slots up to the public which is not many. Or they will hire students who just did their preceptorships there. Lucky timing for those new grads who were lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

Does anyone know what units are available? One of my friends work there and she said it is SOOOOOO hard to get a position there especially if you haven't done your preceptorship there. And I agree about how their employees get first dibs no the positions...which sux for those (like myself) who didn't precept there or work there. Good luck to all of us who did apply!!!! For those who got call backs or interviews....PLEASE give us an update!!!! SO curious to know!!!!
