Hi everyone,
My name is Matthew Lickona. I am a staff writer for the San Diego Reader, a weekly newspaper. I am writing a cover story on jokes. One key subject for jokes, I find, is death, and one place it finds excellent treatment is among medical folk. My friend who is a nurse (in New Mexico) - tells me that many nurses he has met have marvelous senses of gallows humor. I am wondering if anyone can suggest a place I might visit where nurses hang out - after shifts, say, or during mealtimes - so that I might ask them if they're up for talking about their favorite jokes and why they love them.
If there is any concern about my legitimacy, please visit
www.sandiegoreader.com and search for my name. I've been with the paper for 14 years. My email is
mlickona@cox.net, should anyone wish to contact me that way.
I hope this is okay - I didn't think it fell under the allnurses.com ban on solicitation, since I'm not selling anything. My apologies in advance if this constitutes a misuse of this board.
Thanks for your time and consideration,
Matthew Lickona
