Failed 3rd Semester of ADN program. Do you have to start from scratch?

by rlem5

Hi,
If you fail the third semester of an ADN program, can you reapply to another program and (1) transfer any units from the first two semesters or (2) do you have to start from scratch?

If you fail, generally your best option is to fall back a class and continue in the same program. My school would allow this option. Check with the DON
As for getting into another program, sometimes this is can be difficult to do, as oyu have to explain the F on your transcript! Your credits may transfer IF your credits are from a junior college, or a school which the school you are attempting to get into recognizes. My instinct is to tell you to address the faculty at your current school about remediating and repeating that class you failed with the next class when they get to that point.

Good luck to you, and let us know how this plays out!!

Depending on the program and how well you did , you maybe eligible to finish the year in a PN program if they have one or return next fall.

in the first program I was in, people took pharmacology and patho before they were in the program and were able to be excused from those classes.
But I failed out of a program and switched, but had to start from scratch. They preferred we take their classes. Just be sure that your school does NOT put that you were dropped from the major or else other schools wont accept you.

It is almost impossible to transfer to another program mid-way thru even if you are the best student in the program. Schools are not accepting of this in most cases and will have one repeat everything; even if in the same city.

Best is always to try and complete the program at the same school, it will also be the easiest for one to do. At best, you should just have to repeat the one semester. This is better than starting all over again and waiting to get into a program on their list.

Best of luck to you.
