Re: Entry level job.. Help! Help!
I am in the same boat. I was looking for a job in a hospital but I couldn't find any vacant. So I got my Public Health Nurse certificate and started working in PH. I still looking for an opportunity to work in a hospital, but every time I applied they say that I don't have experience in acute care, I have been working in PH for about a year and to work in a hospital I have 0 experience as a nurse, but they won't consider me as a new grad because I graduate 2 years ago. So far I have a job, always I will miss the opportunity working in a hospital.

Re: Entry level job.. Help! Help!
It seems that they're waiting for someone with more experience to come along. They are offering you an on call position, I would take it if I were you. Usually when they do that it's because they are testing you to see if they like you or that if you're competent enough to do the job, coming from the (meaning you graduated from there) Philippines isn't working in your favor. This is what I got from a friend of mine who is a DSD back in Florida. Now being that they're willing to give you a chance is a good thing. Let them know that you're willing to ask a lot of questions if there's something that you're unclear about. Don't try to solve the issue on your own, always ask when in doubt. If you don't that will work against you once you start working. Hope this helps and congratulations, and good luck!!!!! :-)

Re: Entry level job.. Help! Help!
Try not to be so nervous, try to be more excited!!!!! Heck, I'm excited to see that new nurses are getting jobs....Do the best that you can do, and be readily available if they want you to work. Let them know that you can work any day and any shift, and to let the other workers know that if they need a day off that you're willing to work with them. In other words, have a flexible schedule. That should work in your favor. The SNF is going to be different but at least you've got your foot in the door. It's going to be a lot of work, but you can do it and if you can work in a SNF, then you can work just about anywhere. Good luck and have fun tomorrow!

Hi Aleena23,
I just wanna to know how you are doing with your new job. Did you received the orientation? If so how long is gonna be? I am still looking for a job as a nurse. Any tips or advice, it will be greatly appreciated. Also I was thinking that it might be something in my resume that doesn't look good. Besides, my lack of nursing experience in California, I don't know why I don't even get a job interview. I am so discouraged.
