Does a degree from west coast university transfer to cal state?

by wooosp

Hello.
I have been trying to find out if an associates degree from West Coast University is accepted at either Cal State L.A. or Cal State Northridge.
I tried contacting the schools but got the run around instead.

I'm really interested in attending WCU, but I want to clarify this first.
I know I could go to Univ. of Phoenix and other private school.

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

no its not. They are not approved for transfer. you would have to take there BSN to advance. I know this for a fact.

Hi!
Here's the thing. West coast university is a private school. The general prerequisites will not transfer to a university or community college. But, if you get your RN there, an RN to BSN will accept the fact that you are an RN, but you would have to repeat all the prerequisites. Confusing, but it's how they work.

The short answer is no. Western is not accredited as a senior college/university by any of the regional accrediting agencies recognized by the US Dept of Education.

Instead, it is accredited by "ACICS (Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools), an independent, national, institutional accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)" to provide education on the level of of a trade school.

You can't transfer from a trade school to a real, accredited college/university. They are apples and oranges.

i dont get why WCU does not try to get accredited by WASC. This will benefit both the school and the students in the long run. Being integrated with all the UC's & Cal States will provide more options for students transferring in and out. Are there any WCU reps that would like to answer this question?

Not being WASC accredited is good for West Coast's income

Yup I have heard that too that they don't want to get WASC because then people would transfer credits in and out. They are working on a NP degree too so you can get everything from them once you are in the system

WCU does not transfer to a Cal State. You can transfer your degree to National University, and that is about it. Went round and round looking at that route, so I became an expert in how it works LOL

Totally! Why would they let you save money transferring to a State university for your BSN when you can spend 90,000 for their own BSN!!
