Do you work for Sutter?

Hello everyone. I'm new to this website. I will be graduating in May and I am interested in working @ Sutter in Sacramento or Roseville. I'd prefer working in an ICU but will work on a Med/Surg floor. Does anyone know how much new grad nurses start off and about their new grad program?

My wife works for Sutter, if she was awake, I'd ask her. Last time I checked, Sutter in this area is not hiring new grads... the also don't hire RN's who have been out of their specialty for more than 2 or 3 years. Most positions are part time.

Sutter has gotten smart... with the huge amount of experienced RN's, including foreign nurses and out of state nurses, they have their pick of who to hire. In spite of what you hear about "nursing shortage," there IS NO NURSING SHORTAGE in the Sacramento Region.

thanks for pointing out that there is no nursing shortage in sacramento. its even worse if you are an Lvn in Sacramento, with Sutter and Kaiser phasing out Lvns. I have not had a full time job since december. It doesnt help that I turn down registry jobs that dont offer orientation. This is the first time in my life a run down, skill nursing facility never call me back. Also first time such a facility had 3 other applicants filling out applications at the same time.

To answer your question, sutter starts new grads I believe at 37.90/hr
UC davis is 33.93/hr I think Mercy is a dollar more than sutter and Kaiser is of course top of the scale.
Good luck,
I just rotated last week in the ICU at Sutter General, and it was great! I had been set on working ER but after my rotation I could see myself in the ICU as well. I'm a 4th semester student and I graduate in May as well. Congrats to US!

I'm not sure about Sacramento or Roseville but I know Sutter in Modesto starts RNs off at 35.36/hr. I got that info from their website.

Sutter hospitals in the Sacramento area (Roseville/General/Memorial) currently have a hiring freeze. It's been going since at least January and not sure how long it is expected to last.
