can't find a job

by gip2007

new licensed RN in CA. Am in san francisco. Having difficulty finding job. Tried looking for new grad programs, nothing available at this time. If ever there is one, they won't hire me due to no experience. I had 2 interviews without any luck. Getting really frustrated. They advertise job openings for new licensed RN but they would rather hire experienced RN. How else am I gonna get a job as a RN? Pls. advice

these things go in cycles unforunately . my dtr graduated in 1995 and there was a scarity in jobs in the shreveport area...finally go a job outside of town..now there is a shortage again and hospitals are begging for RNs, giving bonus etc..

hang in there, you will find a job...keep looking on internet, in the papers, talk with people you know, people that you went to school with...check with the school itself..they may be able to help you

Oh gosh!! I feel bad about whats happening to you, I mean they keep complaining about the nursing shortage and now that you are available to feel that gap, they wont hire. I live in Cali too and see those ads all the time. But, have you tried LTC? Usually they would hire new grads quickly. U will not get the same amount of training you may get in the hospital but hey its a job right. Good luck with you job search. u could also try talking 2 ur past class mates to see if they can help u out or maybe contacting ur past nursing professors(some hospitals recruit in schools through the faculty). Good luck again

Are you looking at ALL types of nursing or are you being picky at what you will or won't do? I find it surprising that you can't get at least a position on M/S or maybe in a Rehab unit. I do find NorCal is a bit more selective than SoCal in hiring so maybe coming down here would be beneficial to you, if you can. Good luck because it won't be long before someone takes you on.

Thank you so much for your support. I worked in LTC but it was so stressful. Too many patients to handle. It was crazy.

Thank you so much. It might take a while though I'll keep trying. Its just that, I need to get experience in a hospital setting. As they say, you need to survive.
