CA nursing student looking for experience as a CNA

by mhezm

Can anyone tell me what the steps are to becoming a CNA or student nurse in the bay area? Right now I've completed one semester of med-surg clinical. Do I just apply at a hospital, maybe talk to HR, or do I have to take courses to become a CNA first? I heard that working as a CNA while still in nursing school is the best way to land a job as a new grad. Is this true? Are the hours flexible to accomodate the school schedule? I am scared and worried about how competitive it is to get a job as a new grad in these days. I've lived in the bay area all my life and would do whatever it takes to be able to find a job here after I graduate.
