I just graduated from AVC. Great program -Strict, but prepared me well. I waited 1 semmester from the time I ended my 3 pre-req's. You need anatomy, physiology & micro before applying. Also, new exam to get in. It's competitive & hard to get spots in the pre req's.

Oh, living area... Desert (105 degrees right now). The Antelope Valley was the 2nd fastest growing city in the US a few years ago. Pretty developed & spread out. & the ADN program has been around since the 80's. I had instructors that graduated from there.

I graduated from there in 1995. I miss the desert but my family is still there. More gangs than in the 1990's and tons of new housing.

The Antelope Valley Sheriff station is the busiest with the highest number of crimes reported in Los Angeles County . (My husband works in law enforcement.) If you are moving to the area, I would suggest you look in Agua Dulce, which is a nice neighboring community, or Quartz Hill.

Antelope Valley College has a great program, with a wait shorter than most in the region. For me it was worth commuting an hour each way to go to that particular ADN program. If you look at the BRN web site's statistics for RN programs, you'll see that AVC has a very high first-attempt pass rate.

You can get the current admission criteria from their website here.

Good luck!
