Anyone going to Mt. Saint Mary's?

by Maliatc

Just want to know how their night/weekend program is? Is it tough...I'm sure it is, but is it REALLY tough? After lots of research, I'm leaning towards this program because it allows me to work full-time, which has nothng to do with Nursing. I'm planning on transferring after I finish my pre-reqs at a community college. What was your schedule like? What's the campus like? Did you work full- time also?

I'm an MSMC alum. But there are a couple of other threads in which MSMC has been mentioned. Do a search using the Mount as a keyword, find those threads, and see if some of your questions are answered.

I just graduated from MSMC's traditional nursing program in 2004, and I think it was a very hard program. In the four years that I attended, I worked for a year and a half as a CNA per diem one day a week in Santa Monica where they payed me 15.15 an hour. That was all that I could handle, and junior year my classes were so intense that I had to quit.
Remember that people who work while they are in nursing school have a tendency to not do as good in there classes. Nursing school by itself is a full time job. If for some reason you were to be held back a year. Every year that you do not work as an RN, you potentially could have been making $40,000-60,000++ a year. On top of this, almost all county hospital in Los Angeles area will pay up to 80% of your school loans if you promise to work for them for two years. Good luck
