Just got accepted to CSULA's BSN program-- so excited! Is anyone currently going or planning to go there? I've never even been to the campus...east LA sounds terrific...lol.

I attend CSULA. Great program reputation but has its program gliches as with anything. The faculty is outstanding for the most part. They really make themselves available to help you understand the material. Great amount of resources. Welcome to the Golden Eagle.

My theme has been to try a different hospital each term to get a feel for what is out there. I've done LAC-USC (fundamentals), Huntington (OB), Glendale Memorial (med-surg), Aurora Las Encinas (psych), Children's (peds), Pomona Health Center (community health) and this quarter Cedars (critical care). I'm in a different program with a smaller class size, so you will probably have more choices than I. Anything else I can help you with, just let me know.

Congrats

How many points did you two have when you sent in the application?

I'm just curious on what amount of points actually get in. They don't post any statistics on nursing program admissions so I don't really know what to expect. I mean I can't really use the bare requirements as a guideline on whether I will be accepted. I just need to decide if I should even apply.

thanks.

Well out of more than 500 applicants, 60 got in for fall quarter this year and 40 got in for spring quarter. They take the top applicants, so that should give you some idea of the acceptance rates. I had mostly A's and a good GPA, and hospital volunteer experience. Hope this helps!

Hi,
Is the cirriculum challenging since it is on the quarter system? I am currently finishing up my pre-reqs and I found that to be very challenging during a "sememster" system. What is it like?
Thanks, Jag

Hi Jag,

I graduated from CSULA's nursing program (Spring 2008). I transferred from a semester system to a quarter system when I got into CSULA. I actually prefer quarter systems bc its 10 weeks as opposed to 15-20 weeks. You meet twice or once a week. Lectures are somewhat longer, but time flies on a quarter system. Umm..as far as challenging, I think it all depends on the individual. I found quarter system to be challenging and the semester system easy..In quarter system you have to learn more information faster in a shorter amount of time.

Hope that helps and good luck with your pre-reqs!
