Are you talking about the Foster City in the bay area?? If you are I live pretty close (Palo Alto). It's a nice area, windy at times especially if you live close to the bridge (San Mateo Bridge). Housing is slightly expensive compared to neighboring cities such as Union City or Hayward. Don't hang out much over there so I don't know of any restaurants. Welcome, though!

Foster City is a nice area. I lived there a few years back. There are not many restaurants in Foster City, but plenty in San Mateo. Of course, there is a Chevy's down on the lagoon. Lots of great Sushi and Chinese food restaurants.

The Bridgepoint Shopping Center hosts a few casual dining spots, such as Mimi's and Red Robin. For finer dining, I would suggest Capellini's or 231 Ellsworth in San Mateo. You can review restaurants, and make reservations at www.opentable.com

Hillsdale Shopping Center is only a stone's throw away from Foster City. Lots of great shops, and several casual dining restaurants as well. They have a California Pizza Kitchen, TGI Fridays and a Macaroni Grill.

What to see or do? Foster City is a quiet town with a nice sense of community. Being that it is on a lagoon, there are many paths for walking and just enjoying the fresh air. There is a Safeway grocery store in Foster City, as well as Albertsons and Whole Foods is nearby in San Mateo.

Plenty of movie theatres in the area. The newest being the one in downtown San Mateo (4th street area).

If you are into scrapbooking, there is a shop in San Carlos called the Scrapbook Depot. They have weekly workshops.

It is only a short drive into San Francisco, where there is always something to do or see, and a brilliant choice of restaurants.
