Any ELMSN or ABSN, Oakland, SF or Sacramento people, question for you please

Hi guys,
i have few questions, please help as much as you can, I really appreciate it:

1. What was your GPA from your Bachelor degree and prereqs?

2. About essays (personal statements), do they need to be very extended and professional?

3. Did you have any prereqs in progress when your applied?

4. What questions did they ask during the interview?

5. Was it hard to get financial aid? did you get any finaid from any hospitals or any other places that you dont have to pay back? Does location/campus of the either program play any role?

thanks in advance!

If you are specifically directing your questions to the Samuel Merritt College programs, you may want to edit your post to reflect that. Also, there are several threads open currently in the Pre-Nursing and Graduate Nursing Forums that address your questions.

You can find specific rules for prereq's within the application and instructions. I think SMC allows prereq's in progress. I'm not sure how many. I had 5 in progress when I applied. The ELMSN program is more competitive than the ABSN program (at least that's what I've been told). I think they'll look at your application if you've got the minimum requirements then compare you with the applicant pool. So it probably depends on the applicant pool at the time. I'm doing the SF ABSN, and there was no interview. I went on application deadline to determine which I would like to apply to. I may have preferred the ELMSN b/c I've heard really outstanding things about it, but it's super super expensive. I think other very important factors are the personal statement and the volunteer work. That's all I know so far.
