Re: Anyone attending or taken the Accelerated BSN at Concordia in Irvine?
One more thing, as I was reading through all these replies I noticed everyones concerned with the religious aspects...once you have taken the theology courses, the religion part is over. I was brought up Christian, so I enjoyed it, but I definitely understand if your not interested, and you have nothing to worry about! It does not matter what religion you are. They offer Chapel 3-4 days a week but it is totally optional. We have prayed a couple times in class, and they have bible verses written on the first page of some of the lectures, but thats it. Lutherans are very low key, and the instructors are far from intense about religious stuff. So I hope that clears things up!

Hi, Dear eclaire!
this is kim who is attending CSUN right now. And i already applied(fall 2009) for
BSN program at concordia in irvine. i really love to go to this school. As a
Christian, your message inspired me so much about school life. now, i am
waiting for the acceptance. I am wondering that concordia university requires
high GPA or not. and do they care about personal statement and reference
letters? My GPA is not high enough, so i am worrying too much.. do you have
something to advice me?

Re: Anyone attending or taken the Accelerated BSN at Concordia in Irvine?
Hi luckykim!
I'm in the same boat. I applied to Fall 2009 class at Concordia and have yet to hear from them. Good luck to you. I think Eclaire's comments and other comments were helpful. I have to take the theology class if I get in, but I'm not a religion minor or major. I'm waiting and I know that letter get mailed out by April 1st, so keeping my fingers crossed. Can anyone else that may be in the program, applied to the program or considered applying, share more information? Thanks

Re: Anyone attending or taken the Accelerated BSN at Concordia in Irvine?
hello, charmeleon!
I am so happy to hear from you!!! I sent an e-mail to ms. Bostrom and she
said around 150 people complete their applications out of 300 applicants.
I am not a religion minor or major, either. my major is biology!!
Good luck to you, too!! it will be great to see you in class at Concordia
university. I heard that Concordia university is really great place to study.
Let's wait more!!! I will keep praying unitil I get the acceptance letter!
Again, Good luck!!
Thanks

As for the theology class, ya they are expensive but they are easy, and your learning, every bit of knowledge is good!! This school really cares about us as students, they are compassionate and caring. My clinical instructor is amazing, smart, and I have had great hospital experiences. This is an accelerated program, its very fast, so some days you are sitting in class from 7:30am-5:30pm and your tired and you have to get up the next morning to go to clinicals, but in my opinion, it is soooo worth it!!!! If anyone has any other questions, I would be happy to answer them! Hope this is helpful : )
Sorry I am new on here, so please forgive me. I am very interested in the accelerated bsn program at concordia, but I messed up when I was at CSULB and got a GPA of 2.3. I am taking my pre reqs and getting all A's so far. But after I calculate all my class when I apply it will only come out to 2.7 or 2.8 if I do will in Micro. Do you think that they will ever consider looking at my application.
Thank you,
Desperate Nursing student

Re: Anyone attending or taken the Accelerated BSN at Concordia in Irvine?
Hello!
the accelerated bsn program at irvine is new. however, they are really
competitive!! my gpa was above 3.0 and i got good grade in all pre-req.
However, the candidates who got accepted have average 3.5 gpa for fall 2009
cohort!
therefore, i got rejected! they did not even give me an interview opportunity.
i think it is better to find other schools!
good luck to you!! there are many good schools out there for you!!

Re: Anyone attending or taken the Accelerated BSN at Concordia in Irvine?
Hi Dispritewannabern,
Concordia looks at cumulative GPA. I got an almost 3.4 cumulative and a 3.75 in pre-reqs, and I didn't get in, didn't even got an interview with good recommendation letters (I was top 2 in my micro class out of 100 and top 3 in physio out of 45+) and a well-written personal statement. My undegrad was finance, which explains a lower cumulative gpa. It's ok though because I wouldn't know how to get $30K in tuition plus other expenses. I got in Accelerated BSN in Nevada State College which will start this August. It's a move, but I could just rent a room there and visit my kids every weekend (I saw the schedule already for 1st sem it's Mon-Fri only). Tuition fees are only $8K for a whole year!!! Books and other fees will be around $3K, but I could still get financial aid of around $13K+ despite of my undergrad student loans. No expensive religion classes... So I suggest if you guys are flexible and willing to move try NSC. It's so easy to get in. =)
