Specialties Burn

The burn unit at Shriner's Hospital in Cincinnati Ohio must be one of the most remarkable burn units in the states. My niece and her daughters were hospitalized there after an explosion at my brothers house in Garrett IN. There wedding was on the Regis and Kelly show last Friday I want to say that the Shriners Hospital Burn unit is wonderful.

Specializes in Burns, PACU.

That's what I've heard. Shriner's seems to be the "mothership" of burn units. I've never been, but am incredibly impressed by what I learned about them while in school.

Specializes in Med/Surg.

They are the absolute BEST!! I was a patient there from 1982 all the way to 1995.

I actually did my precepting there in nursing school. I was there for 6 weeks and it was the MOST rewarding thing I have ever done. I was actually offered a job there, but ended up having to move out of state. The nurses are wonderful, the doctors are magnificent and the hospital offers a lot in the way of different therapies such as school, art therapy, pet therapy, etc. All the patients, since they are not sick (this is on the rehab unit) came out into the nurses station and we all played games together and they form a great companionship. I was able to sit in on a couple of surgeries-- it really is absolutely amazing what they do for children there and if I ever move back to Cincinnati, I will do everything in my power to work there.

I am currently 16 and I would LOVE to work here, I want to become a Burn Specialist ultimatley and I have heard great stories and testimonials about

Shriners on several several websites! Lucky people to be working here!
