Parkland formula for fluid restoration

I was wondering if someone could tell me if I did this correctly. In order to calculate the fluids for a pediatric patient who weighs 24 kg and has a burn over 25% of BSA (using the Parkland formula for fluid restoration), I did the following:

10 x 100 = 1000
10 x 50 = 500
4 x 20 = 80
1800 (for normal fluid requirements)

4 x 24 x 25 = 2400
2400 + 1800 = 4200

4200/2 = 2100 (the amount given over the first 8 hours)
2100/8 = 262.5 ml/hr for the first 8 hours and then
2100/16 = 131.25 ml/hr for the remaining 16 hours

Also, how are the fluid requirements calculated after the first 24 hours?

Thanks for the help.

Using only the parkland formula should give you a requirement of 2.4 L over the first 24 hours. Remember, Parkland is a recommendation and should be considered more of a fluid maintenance formula for burn patients. Use your patient's hemodynamic status and urinary status as primary indicators of adequate fluid resuscitation.

After the first two days, you can expect large fluid and electrolyte shifts, and fluid therapy could become more complicated. Again, use hemodynamics and urinary output to guide your therapy. In addition, labs will play an important role as electrolyte shifts are to be expected.
