Burn unit night shift

by needrn

Hi all! I have an interview on Monday at the area's only burn ICU. Can someone tell me what does it involve working there on nights? Any idea of the nurse/patient ratio? I have worked tele before, but this sounds like a pretty acute floor, and they want to interview me asap....Little scary, don't know what to expect, will ask to shadow to get an idea....Any thoughts?

Default Re: Burn unit night shift
Night shift on a burn unit is pretty much the same as a day shift on a burn unit. It's acute care and it's around the clock. Look into pain management strategies. Please do shadow someone if you can. Learn about grafting. Learn about supportive comfort measures.
You won't regret working the burn unit. I can almost guarantee it
