Med/Surg to Burn ICU?

by sammy75

Hi! I've been an RN on a Med/Surg floor for almost 2 yrs (in June 09). We mainly deal with ABD GI/GU surgeries i.e. appy, choley, colon resection, colostomy, ilieostomy, TURP, nephrectomy, SBO, abd pain and every now and then they throw in some thyroidectomies . Anyway, there is a position, at another hospital in town, in the Burn ICU. I was wondering if that would be a good move for me. I've never been exposed to such extensive burns. In fact, the only exposure to burns was a few chapters in school. I like the idea of actually using my critical thinking skills (if I still have them) and every pt's burns being different. I don't know what to do. Please throw your input in the hat....THANKS!!!
