ED RN to Burn ICU

  1. 0
    Hi all,

I'm an ED nurse and I picked up a per diem position in a hospital that also functions as the regional burn center. I'm not expecting to know everything on day one, but I'm looking for some tips. In my full-time job in the ED, I have experience mostly with stabilizing burn patients and flighting them to my new job. I'm familiar with initial assessment, calculating body %, basic dressings, fluid resuscitation (we use Parkland formula- is that the gold standard?), and monitoring for electrolyte imbalances.

What are some tips that you all have? Any articles or books that would be helpful?

    Thanks in advance!
