Apollo College RN Program

I'll be starting the 3rd semester on Monday (out of 6 semesters) and will be starting the first clinical rotation.

Yes, we were told that since Apollo was purchased by DeVry (for its ADN program), any school owned by DeVry will accept Apollo's credits. Though I would still verify it and get it in writing.

Will you be starting from the beginning? What I mean is, will you be taking all of the General Ed courses too?

Have you have taken college courses? Specifically, English Comp, Sociology, Algebra, or Psychology?

The next semester starts on Monday, so if you were to go forward and sign up for Apollo, you'll be starting March 2010.

As of now, there are no evening classes. All of the classes the first two semesters are in the mornings and end no later than around Noon. The third semester is when they have one or two days that are all day classes or clinicals.

The first semester's classes are:
- College Math - Algebra* x
- Eng. Comp* x
- Psychology* x
- A & P 1

Second semester is:
- Communications*
- Sociology* x
- A&P 2
- Microbiology

* = These are classes you can take online.

x = These are classes you can get credit for if you took them at a college in the last 10 years. If it has been longer than that, you can test out of the classes using the CLEP test (Google it).

I tested out of English, Psych, and Sociology. The tests and the study material cost ~$300 and I saved $3000+ in tuition.

Ask a lot of questions at the information seminar and post here if you have any more.

Yes DeVry owns Apollo and Chamberlain BUT you do not have to go to Chamberlain for a BSN. Once you are a RN you can use many of the RN to BSN programs out there including ASU. Many large Universities have RN to BSN programs....not to be mistaken with ADN to BSN programs. Apollo has 3 semesters a year and classes start 3 times a year...naturally. BTW...RN who graduated March 09

Would I recommend it? Yes, but only for those who have a limited amount of time to get their RN and are only looking for the meat and potatoes. Taught me what I needed to be a confident, competent, and safe RN.

The people that do these information seminars are most likely recruiters. He was a recruiter when I attended the one for Apollo College. I seriously doubt a recruiter is going to be different from one school to another. I also doubt someone from the actual nursing department will have the time to come by one of these seminars.

IMHO, you are doing the right thing by asking people who actually attend these schools. Also, while you are trying to decide where you want to go, start studying for the CPAt test and the NET test as those are what I assume all of the schools are looking for.

And, if the seminar and the presenter didn't impress you, maybe Apollo isn't for you. Just remember that a recruiter is just a salesman and some people will tell you whatever you want to hear (or not hear) just to close a sale.
