Need advice in NE Arkansas please

Hello all!

I currently work at an LTC facility in NE Arkansas as a CNA. I am quite bothered by the lack of professionalism by the other CNA's and some nurses where I work. I know I'm new and have a lot to learn about nursing in general, but people could still be respectful.

I also realize that there a most are doing this as a "job", but for me it is a career change and plan to become an RN within the next few years. I have applied at three of the local hospitals without even a call for an interview. Is it because of my age...42....or being male??? It gets pretty discouraging sometimes.

If anyone has any advice or just their please chime in! Thank you!

I would say it has nothing to do with your age or gender. A number of places are just not hiring support people right now. I know that Baptist in LR is still hiring, but otherwise I would suggest looking up facility web sites to see if anything is posted.

I have been looking at the local hospital websites on an almost daily basis. NEA Baptist has several openings as well as St. Bernards in Jonesboro. I am also interested in MSHS in Jonesboro which has openings as well.

Did you ever get a call? It's odd for either facility not to call and at least ask you a few questions over the phone when there are so many openings.
