Students on the MCC waiting list: lets get a jump start on studying

U.S.A. Arizona

Hello! I have currently turned in my application to the Maricopa Community Colleges, and now I wait for my name to be called for nursing school. BUT, I have decided to make the 'best' of my wait by getting a study group started. I want to start nursing school with a leg up. I would like to get a group of those that are in waiting to study. I have 4 text books in mind that I would like to get through in a year to year and a half. I was in block one of nursing school, 2 weeks until the end of the block, and I had to quit. The decision was a rough one, but one that had to be made at that time. SO, on the bright side I do have some knowledge as to what nursing school is about and we can help each other study.

If you are interested, have the time, are committed, aren't a slacker, want to start nursing school off on the right foot, and can drive to the Glendale/Peoria area once or twice a week for a few hours, have hours to read text books on your own, then let me know.

We will all need:

Potter and Perry Nursing Fundamentals 6th or 7th editions

Lewis Med-Surg (I will have to research the editions)

Pharmacology (again I will research the editions)

NCLEX study guide

iPod touch or the application iFlipr from iTunes (was $4.99 the last time I saw it), to share making and using flashcards

We can be off by an edition, either way, that won't make such a big deal and some times the newest edition is too darn expensive until we absolutely HAVE to buy it.

I would like to meet on Saturdays or Sundays, to start, then we will see what works best for most of us. I would like to meet at GCC's library or Peoria library, or Glendale library, or a park.

If this sounds like something you could commit to, then let me know and let's start studying! :yeah:

Specializes in telemetry.

Oh, ok...that's right, in that other post you weren't talking about your timestamp, but the larger group in Oct:

"That would make sense to have a larger group in the October timestamps, if the application period was June 1-July 31st, then anyone who would have finished their pre-reqs in Spring semester 2008 would be given an October timestamp, would most likely would be a lot of people when you near the end of a semester... So I am guessing the October and Feb groups would tend to be the largest, but it looks good for you to get into the Fall Semester 2010, don't lose patience yet! lol I wish I knew which schools were the most/least popular.... "

I guess I lucked out with an August timestamp then if I turned in my June 1st-July 31st!

Sorry, I must have been very very sleepy that day. All of the Octobers = August. lol

Good looks like we're set, Saturday, April 10th looks like it works for us all.

I vote for maybe the other SBUX at Desert Ridge near the theater (I'm a partner) besides I talk kinda loud so I'd rather not sit inside a book store.

Why don't we exchange numbers that way we will have an easier time communicating

kf, I would sign up for patho that way you have a spot if you don't make it into NS this next semester.

the 10th works for me. And SBUX is fine. I got a patho book at barnes and noble this weekend and also downloaded the patho itunes lectures I saw in another post, so I think that's all I will need for that. Are any of you going to the banner info meeting tomorrow?

How about 10:30 or 11 on April 10th, I go to Farmers mkt in the morning and that should give me enough time.

I'm not going to the Banner info session since I'm stuck at work late tomorrow. I am very curious what they have to say, hopefully someone will post the updates when they return.

why don't we say 11 am on April 10th, Sbux Desert Ridge for anyone who wants to come. I'll be at the banner meeting tomorrow, if anyone else is going, maybe carpool? I can update you all after the meeting tomorrow.

KF,

i have the same date stamp as you..well i have 2-20-09. I did not get accepted in fall 2010 as of today. Did you? i am keeping my fingers crossed, and i am just trying to figure out where i am on the list!

Kdoll, No I did not get placed either but I did see on one of the other boards, there are some people with a 12/08 timestamp that were placed. So I think it would look fairly good for us to be placed next semester. I am applying for the part time July Banner Program in the meantime...

kf, did you receive a new Banner App? I applied in January and the July evening program fits my needs PERFECTLY so I hope my prior app will count. I wasn't sure from your previous post if applications previously submitted would be considered.

Yes, I did receive a new app. I would recommend calling them and asking them for the new app since you are within your one year of attending.

I LOOKED for the Patho class at Scottsdale and I cant find it! Could you give me the course number please? Thanks!
