Can someone tell me the starting slaries for new graduates in AZ. I am graduating soon and considering my options at the moment. I am in Minnesota, I know i'll love it in AZ but i have to consider the standard of living and the pay.

Hello from a MN transplant! Where in MN are you?

If you're looking at down in Phoenix, I believe new grad pay is around $19-20/hour. Where I am (Prescott area) it's around $18-19.

Cost of living in AZ is generally cheaper than Minneapolis, but it's very quickly catching up, especially in house prices. AZ is currently going through an amazing boom in home appreciation, similar to what Minneapolis did 3-8 years ago.

RN

Good luck with your move!

I saw you asked in another thread what was wrong with Phoenix. For me, it's a matter of the traffic (and the lack of capability for the current freeway system to handle it) and the extreme summer temperature. If it weren't for those two things, I'd LOVE to live there.

I know it's hot...but isn't it DRY heat? Living in GA it gets up to the 90s and sometimes hits the 100 mark, but it's so humid I feel like I'm drowning!:p

Can you recommend an area that is good for raising a child and it won't take me 2 hours to drive 10 miles?

Are you moving to Phoenix or Tucson? The range down here in Tucson is $18-21. I just went to a job fair in Tucson and TMC said they pay around $21 for ADNs, and I think a little more for BSN's. The VA pays $17/hr for LPNs at night, so they must pay pretty well for RNs...Do you have a peference on what specialty you would like to go into?

it is very dry here. but for 3-4 months out of the year, it is very hot!!! thank goodness for A.C.!!!!! i live in northern phoenix, around greenway and 7th street. it is a pretty quite neighborhood, lower crime than central, perioa is also quite. most of scottsdale is low-crime, but very expensive. it doesn't take to long to get anywhere with all the freeways. as long as it's not rush-hour. look on forrent.com and go to nofrther-phoenix. i am looking at a 2 bedroom/ 1 bath for $605 a month, and these are luxury apartments with backyards.

i wish the pictures could show how beautiful the grounds eally are. i have lived in this area for 1 1/2 years, if you want to e-mail me

I just got an interview in Tucson. How is it like down there? What is the standard of living? Housing and transportation? Can someone help, pls?

Depends.....Where did you come from? Typically, Tucson is a couple of degrees cooler than PHX. There is a lot more traffic in phx but they actually have a working freeway system. Last week it was 111 here. Now it is probably only 100 for a high. Traffic here is a nightmare, but the snowbirds are gone, so it is a little better (or so they say). Where did you interview at? The housing is out of control. A neighbor of mine just sold his 3 bed, 1 bath 1500 sq ft house for $200,000...ouch! I think the apartments are ok, but still a little high.
