WOW, I haven't even graduated yet, but the higher sign on I see offered, the more scared I get. Maybe that is unfounded, but still...... That would really be great though if I could break into a good environment AND make 15 grand. Is it really possible!??? Thanks for typing that for us!

Well, both Arrowhead and Paradise Valley called me today for interviews! I will let you know I know Arrowhead is a good atmosphere for the unit I applied for - I did my preceptorship there. :blushkiss

Thanks for the warning Andy. I realize that. I work ICU currently and it is pretty rough where I am right now. No unit clerk, no nursing assistant, very high acuity patients, short staffed, and burned out nurses that have worked at the same place for 20 - 30 years. Have plenty of vacation time, but it is like pulling out teeth to get time off.

I think I'm leaning towards St. Joseph's. What about Maricopa Medical Center?? Who pays the highest? Highest relocation pay?

Anyone know what the commute time is from Surprise to St. Joseph's?

    Appreciate all of your responses

At this time, Arrowhead is making some changes. The manager of the tele unit stepped down and things are looking better. I was just inches away from leaving but I'll stick around to check it out for a while.

    Hello mamma,
I worked Del Web ICU for many years, many years ago, and was promoted to Admin Rep, before I moved my family away from Phoenix after my son was born. I have praised Sun Health and recommended Del Web on this site and others. I recently changed jobs and was asked to come back to my current employer, but as I had moved closer to Sun City West, I decided to check out the Del Web ICU again. I have 21 years nursing experience (18 years in icu). I did not even get a call back from Web,after my interview (first time in my life!). I left Del Web after 10 years employment on very good terms, as far as I knew. The only reason i can think of for no call back , is that one person still there, who was mentioned in my interview (he) may not care for me??? Maybe he had negative comments? I really don't know, but I can say that it bothers me, as this has NEVER happened to me before. I went back to my current employer anyway, due to the new management motivation, Magnet Status pursuit (we got it!!!), and the tuition reimbursement and loan pay back benefits(I'm in school for my masters). I do have to tell you that it is Del Web's loss. I have facilitated the start up of our rapid response team, I sit on our evidence-based practice unit base committee, I am now chairing our special care committee, in which we are promoting standards of excellence, writing a sepsis protocol, and finding ways to enforce our VAP protocol, I precept on a regular basis, I have pushed for and written a mentoring program for ICU, I love to teach, and after all these years I still love the bedside (and i work nights). My mother-in-law has been ill lately and had to undergo some emergent porcedures, but up untill that time and currently, my attendance is stellar. I was shocked and confused by Web's lack of response, and I just had to vent my confusion to your recruitment on this site.

    hi, dorimar.

wow....it definitely sounds like it is del webb's loss! you sound like a wonderful nurse, good luck with your goals! i am glad to hear your experience there was a pleasant one because i have decided to work through a registry, and they're offering me a 13 week contract with del webb. it's 15 mins. away from my future home, in surprise.

it will be on 40-bed telemetry unit. am leery-haven't been at the bedside in 4 years! my background is er, iccu, med-surg, etc, etc....
if i like it there, i might stay and eventually get into managment. i also want to get my msn, started but never finished.

anyone work in telemtry at del on days?? if so, what's the nurse/patient ratio? how's the manager/staff?

anyone registered with an agency called medix? what they're offering sounds promising; a pay rate close to what my per diem rns were making here in ny (i was a manager of an outpatient interventional radiology center), med/den/vision after 30 days, relocation of $500/month, & completion bonus. i'm not sure if they offer any other bennies, as yet.

does this sound good?? i've never worked with a "contract."

once again, i appreciate all of your responses

    live, love, laugh :heartbeat :chuckle

Hi, I haven't worked there myself but have heard over and over that John C. Lincoln Hospital is the best in the area. I just finished a contract at Del Webb Hospital and would never go back. The nursing staff there is totally unappreciated and overwhelmed, actually a dangerous place to work so... I don't recommend Del E. Webb. Just FYI.:spin:
