Questions regarding Benson AZ

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

I was wondering if anyone lives or knows anything about Benson? My husband and I have been looking at possible places to live for when he is transferred to AZ. Currently we live in Northern MI and Benson looks pretty comparable. We are use to traveling to get to anywhere. Also is there any that has went to Pima or U of AZ. Im still confused on some of the details of their R.N programs...

Thank you,

Rebecca:D

Benson is a VERY small, rural town. It's only about a 30min drive from Tucson, which is nice. That area of Arizona is very beautiful (relatively speaking of course!).

I did not go to UofA but, as I understand it, their nursing program is great. If you are not yet a nurse but have a bachelor's degree, they have a new accelerated program that will get you your BSN in a mere 14 months. Your tuition would be paid for in exchange for working for University hospital for 2 years after grad.

Hope that helps somewhat...

I live in Tucson. I've been to Benson. Wasn't all that impressed. Very small town, not much to do. Reminded me too much of my hometown in Illinois. Tucson is great. It's like a bunch of small towns rolled into one, so you don't feel like you live in a huge congested city. I start Pima's nursing program a week from tomorrow. I've heard wonderful things about Pima's program and the U of A's program.

Good luck!

Hi Megamoo !

I'll be in Tucson in about two weeks ! :D

Spending a week nw of Phoenix first (Sun City West) with my mom... then coming down to Tucson for 4-5 days with sis... my son lives in Tucson, too !

Maybe I'll run into you at Trader Joe's !!! :chuckle

I graduated from the University of Arizona in 1993. At that time, it was one of the top 5 Nursing Schools in the US. I do not know if that is still true, but I hear it is still a very good school. Very difficult curriculum, but well worth it (pass rate is very high).

If you are short on money, Pima Community College also has a good nursing program (ADN).

I would recommend either one!

When I lived in Tucson a co-worker commutted from Benson. It's a pretty little town. Not sure about quality of school districts there. Karchner Caverns are a new tourist area nearby. Benson has strong Mormon roots.
