Question for lpn block ii graduates....

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi!

I am getting ready to start block II of the LPN program at Gateway on Monday. Just curious to those of you who just finished block II. Did any of you get placed for block III at any of the schools? I know there were some waiting from last semester, but I kind of got the impression it is because they were waiting for a spot at Gateway specifically.

Thanks!

Thanks! Good to know. I am excited for the semester to start. I am looking forward to clinicals in the hospital. All of January we extended lab hours for IV certification. Should be a fun semester!

Have you taken the NCLEX? If not, good luck!

Nope not yet. Christmas kinda took the money for the test. But hopfully soon. You are lucky they added IV cert in the class! I took it as a seperate class. Have fun. What did you get for clinical?

Yeah, I am trying to decided if I want to take the NCLEX for LPN or not. It is a good chunk of change. Again, good luck. I am kinda' scared to take it.

Was the HESI horrible? I am taking the review class this semester, so hopefully that will be helpful. I didn't last semester as it didn't seem to really help anyone taking it. A lot didn't pass.

I will be at Banner Good Sam for med/surg & OB and then, of course, Hacienda for Peds. Little disappointed on the location for Peds, but didn't really have a choice. The other option for med/surg was Banner T-bird, and that was way too far for me.

If you have everything to role into Block 3 and don't plan to work while going to school, is there a point to paying $500 for the test? They suggest it incase you think you may struggle (fail) the RN block and have nothing to fall back on. I know many in our class that are not going to bother paying that much.

Was the HESI horrible? Not really. They really do prepare you for this! Buy the HESI NCLEX-PN book and there will be a study guide given to you in class and a few review sessions. Don't let it freak you out. I scored in the 1000's.

I am taking the review class this semester, so hopefully that will be helpful. It was very helpful on test days!! I didn't last semester as it didn't seem to really help anyone taking it. Yeah it was the same for us 1st semester! I didn't take it either.

A lot didn't pass. Out of 30 people starting we lost @ 9ish throughout the whole program.

The other option for med/surg was Banner T-bird, and that was way too far for me. I had the same exact ones and yeah the Peds is really not the best experience! At least you get somewhere good in Block 3 so no worries! Let me know when you know your instructors for clinicals names via PM- [/quote

Once again... good luck this term!

Congrats on getting in! I actually wasn't at orientation, as that is just for block I students. Are you in the day or evening class? Advice I can give is get a careplan book and hit the NCLEX book. If you can get another NCLEX from a different publisher as well and study both. They will help on exams. The exams are completely different than any you have taken before. Block I was stressful, interesting, fun, stressful...but I learned a lot. Get a good study group together.

Do you know who your teacher is yet?

Had 1st class (IV lab) today. Yeah there were a lot of block II students that are either repeats or coming from another state. The ones transferring from other programs/states were at orientation.

Glad you got in! It is discouraging seeing all the people ahead of you, but as you can see, you never know what can happen.

Good luck!
