Maricopa Comm College CEP Fall 2017 Uni/Spring 2018 CC Applicants

U.S.A. Arizona

HI -

Sorry if this is a repeat topic, but hoping to "meet" other applicants hoping to start their online university classes in Fall 2017 and CC in-person nursing blocks in Spring 2018.

Hm, I didn't get my application back. They took both of them.

No, they keep the actual time-stamp. I think when people refer to "getting a time stamp" they just mean that their application received one (a literal stamp with the date on it), not that they personally are given anything tangible.

Hey guys! I submitted my CEP app a little over a week ago...the wait is killing me already!

I applied to Ottawa and MCC (first choice)

From what I understand, this is how they calculate your "score":

HESI- 5 pts. possible for math section and 5 pts. possible for language section (10 points total)

75-79% (1pt) 80-84% (2pt) 85-89% (3pt) 90-94% (4pt) 95-100% (5pt)

GPA- Multiply your GPA (for the school you are applying to) by 2.5 (max. 10 points if you have a 4.0)

Prior Degrees- 1 pt for AA, 2 pt BS/BA, 3 pt Masters (they only give points for highest degree earned)

+ 1 point if there are no in progress courses

-3 points taken away if have previously been in a nursing program

If all this is true for this round of placements, I should have roughly 18 points- hopefully enough to get in!

Good Luck to everyone applying!!

I have 19pts if this is the case thank you for that I had no idea!!

Thanks for the breakdown on the point system. I knew they did it by points, but I have never read anything that described it with so much detail - so appreciate you posting that!!

When I submitted, the lady tried to tell me that they would have to subtract a point because I had the statistics class left to do. However, this is a co-req with Ottawa (the Uni I am applying with) and it even states on there that the statistics class can be completed "before or during the nursing program". So - I don't know whether that will go against me? I plan to take it during the summer.

Also - wonder what they do if there are, say, 25 seats and 50 applicants who all score the same points??

I don't think it will subtract a point from your score but you just don't get that extra point. I would probably talk to them again to clarify because that is confusing. Also, I am unsure how they pick applicants if they have all the same points. Most of us picked different universities and community colleges not sure if that plays a role

Agh - poo-poo! That extra point might come back to haunt me! Oh well, I'll consider taking the class this summer so that if I end up not getting in I can reapply with all the classes. I really didn't think it was a big deal because it was a co-req and it even said "can be completed during the degree", but I guess that's just how the score things. Too late to worry about it now - only 10 days to the closing date!!

Since applications are closed Goodluck everyone and if any one hears back please post here!! I'm not sure when we will hear back but goodluck !

I second that! I hope everyone got their applications turned in and get placed. I'm not holding my breath - I was told there were loads of applicants and only 24 seats where I applied (EMCC), same for GCC and PCC, which were my 2nd and 3rd choices.

Please let us know when you hear anything! Good luck to everyone!!

When I spoke with the adviser, the last round at Mesa they had over 200 applicants for 85 seats. She said that we shouldn't expect completion for the enrollment until July 31 (at which point decline letters will have been sent).

Oh wow thank you for the information ! I find it crazy we do not find out till July 31st! Because we would still need to sign up for the university classes
