looking for CNA class info!

  1. Hello Everybody!

I am new to this, but extremely interested in becoming a nurse myself. I am just starting, getting my pre-req's out of the way and am looking into a CNA class... Can anybody point me in the right direction? I know the American Red Cross used to do that but I was told they stopped... Any information I could get would be deeply appreciated!

    Thank you!!

Hi, congratulations on getting started on your pre-req's. Are you looking for a CNA class to complete your pre-req's or are you just interested in working as a CNA while you're doing your pre-req's? The reason I'm asking is because CNA is no longer going to be a pre-req, and if you're just starting yours, you won't need it. If you're looking to work in the CNA field there are several ways to get your license, I think I saw a list of approved schools in the AZ Board of N. newspaper. If not, any of the nursing advisors would have a list. Which school are you presently going to? If you haven't already, I'd see an advisor and find out how to best work out your schedule to take the classes you need. If you have any more questions just pm me, I know a couple of options you could do to help you get through your pre-req's the quickest.

I took my CNA class at Emmanuels School of Nursing located at 35th Avenue and Northern and absolutely loved it. There is a night program that is 5 weeks long and a daytime program that is 3 weeks long. The last week (3rd or 5th week depending upon the program you choose) involves clinicals at the Glendale care facility. The teachers are a lot of fun and have prepared me well for my job as a PCA for Assisted Healthcare...since it takes 1-2months to get your CNA license after you pass the test. Here is their info:

I did my CNA class through Mesa CC over the summer. The condensed format was great. I wouldn't want to take it over 13 weeks...too drawn out. It was sufficient knowledge to begin working as a NA, however, you have to go on your own and take the certification test with the state. I chose not to because I don't want to work at this level. Several from our class did go on and take the test. Good luck!

Thank you sooo much for all your info! I'm getting all that other stuff out of the way right now... fingerprint card, Healthcare provider level certification, etc. I really appreciate that info, it'll be extremely helpful when I get there!! =)
